About the Role: Automation SME

The Automation SME is responsible for leading and implementing automation initiatives that enhance network performance, improve operational efficiency, and drive business transformation. The role focuses on problem-solving, analyzing processes, and leveraging advanced technologies like AI, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics to ensure high-quality network performance and cost-effective solutions. This position requires deep technical expertise in telecom operations, particularly in Packet Core and Circuit Switched (CS) Core domains. Candidates should have a strong understanding of 4G/5G network architectures, data analytics tools, and automation processes to optimize network operations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Network Performance and Automation

  • Lead and implement automation and AI-driven solutions to improve network efficiency and performance.
  • Conduct alarm, trouble ticket (TT), and work order (WO) correlations to identify and resolve chronic network issues.
  • Analyze network performance reports and develop action plans to enhance quality and reliability.
  • Propose and enforce best practices across all related functions to maintain network stability.

2. Problem Management and Risk Mitigation

  • Identify and implement preventative solutions for recurring network issues.
  • Conduct KPI trend monitoring and post-deviation analysis to detect potential service disruptions.
  • Maintain and track actions undertaken for improvements following governance methods.
  • Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOF) and drive mitigation plans to reduce risk.
  • Maintain a risk register and develop proactive strategies to minimize potential issues.

3. Data Analytics and Predictive Modeling

  • Work with Data Analytics teams to build prescriptive and predictive models for network insights.
  • Develop automation tools to reduce manual interventions and improve network stability.
  • Leverage capacity and utilization trends to predict Quality of Service (QoS) improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of data-driven solutions.

4. Operational Excellence and Knowledge Management

  • Engage with operations teams and ensure timely closure of network performance issues.
  • Prioritize network problems based on risk, impact, and severity for effective resolution.
  • Develop and maintain a knowledge base of problem resolutions, root causes, and preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BE/B.Tech) in Telecommunication, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • MBA (preferred) with a focus on operations or data analytics.

Industry Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in telecom operations.
  • Hands-on experience with Packet Core (PS) and Circuit Switched (CS) Core domains.
  • Prior experience with Ericsson, Nokia, or Huawei network nodes is highly desirable.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of 4G/5G network architecture, call flows, and interfaces.
  • Proficiency in analyzing call flow traces and resolving customer complaints.
  • Hands-on experience with data analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to lead automation and transformation projects independently.
  • Experience in AI, Machine Learning, and Automation to improve network efficiency.
